What are 4D number plates?
4D plates use solid acrylic characters that are laser-cut and bonded onto the face of the plate. Unlike gel, the characters have flat tops and crisp vertical walls, which is what gives 4D its unmistakable engineered look and the shadow line that follows your registration across the plate.
The name refers to the depth of the character rather than any official classification. Thicker acrylic casts a stronger shadow, while a bevelled or gel-topped character changes how light travels across the surface.

How to order
Everything is built in one place. Open the plate builder, type your registration, choose your size and style, then pick a front plate, rear plate, matching pair or a Mix & Match pair. You will see your registration on screen in the style you have selected before you pay.
Next-day UK delivery available, with free delivery on orders over £55 (£5.99 below that). Order before 12:00 PM Monday to Saturday for same-day dispatch. Free adhesive pads are included with every plate order, and a fixing kit with colour-matched screw caps can be added in the builder.
Road legal or show plate
Choose road legal and your plates are made to the British Standard layout and spacing required for UK road use, including the correct font, character sizes and supplier markings. Once your order is placed we contact you on WhatsApp to collect your V5C and photo ID before anything is made.
Choose show plate and you can go further with sizes, borders, tints and effects. Show plates are supplied for off-road display, exhibitions and photography, and are not for use on UK public roads.

What are 4D number plates made from?
The characters are laser-cut from solid acrylic and bonded to a reflective UK plate. 4D Gel adds a clear domed gel layer over the acrylic character.
Which 4D depth should I choose?
4D 3mm gives a clean, defined look that suits most cars. 4D Bevelled adds a chamfered edge for a more premium finish, and 4D Gel adds gloss on top of the acrylic depth. All three are shown in the builder so you can compare them with your own registration.
Are 4D number plates road legal?
Yes, when they are made to the British Standard layout, font and spacing and the registration is displayed correctly. Select road legal in the builder and we will build to that standard.
Can I order a front plate or rear plate only?
Yes. In the plate builder you can choose Front Only, Rear Only, a matching pair, or a Mix & Match pair where the front and rear are built to different specifications.
How quickly will my plates be delivered?
Next-day UK delivery available, with free delivery on orders over £55. Next day delivery is £5.99 on orders under £55. Order before 12:00 PM Monday to Saturday for same-day dispatch — orders after 12:00 PM or on Sundays are dispatched the next working day.
