Metro Number Plates
Metro is a font, not a finish. The characters are narrower and more angular than the standard plate typeface, which gives a modern, motorsport-inspired look — and you then choose how they are made.
Metro 3D gel — domed gel characters in the metro font.
Metro bevelled — chamfered acrylic characters in the metro font.
Metro is pre-selected in the builder — switch finish there. From £34.99 per plate.

Why the font matters
UK road plates must use the mandatory Charles Wright typeface at a set character height, width and spacing. Metro deliberately departs from that, so a metro plate is a custom show plate whichever finish you pick.
It is a popular choice on modified builds, track cars and display vehicles where the whole front end has been changed and a standard plate font looks out of place.
Show plate information
Supplied as a show plate for off-road display, exhibition and private land use only. Metro plates are made without British Standard markings and need no documents.
If you like the raised look but need a plate for the road, the same finishes are available with the standard font as 3D gel, 4D 3mm or 4D bevelled plates.
Ordering from LLA Plates
Metro is selected under More Plate Styles, with its own finish selector. Type your registration into the plate builder, pick your size, characters and any extras, then choose a front plate, rear plate or a pair. You will see your registration on screen before you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a metro plate road legal?
No. Any plate using a non-standard font is a show plate for off-road display, regardless of how the characters are made.
Which finish looks best in metro?
Bevelled suits the angular font particularly well because the chamfered edges follow the straight strokes, but 3D gel gives the glossiest finish. All three are shown in the builder.
Can I order just one plate?
Yes. Every product can be ordered as a front plate only, a rear plate only or a matching pair, and the price changes accordingly in the builder.
